We are all dopamine junkies, in one way or another. This is a fact we cannot escape. But what we can change is how we satiate this craving for pleasure.
Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter. Your body makes it, and your nervous system uses it to send messages between nerve cells. That's why it's sometimes called a chemical messenger.
So, the question is, are you a person made up of high ROI dopamine junkie habits or low ROI dopamine junkie habits?
High ROI dopamine habits would consist of creating rather than consuming. Creating a life based on high ROI dopamine habits is the key to success and largely depends on your morning routine.
If in the morning you wake up and automatically check social media, such as Instagram, I am sorry to say that you have just ingrained into your brain a low ROI dopamine habit, and most probably during the rest of the day, it will be hard to resist checking your phone.
However, if you wake up in the morning, stretch, read a book and journal, you are instilling high ROI dopamine habits, and the rest of your day will probably be productive.
Your habits make up your day, and your day makes up your life. How you live a day is how you live life.
Do you want to be a high ROI junkie? Or a low ROI junkie?
Time is energy, and time is the most valuable item one can ever possess. If you have not started thinking of your time as ROI-based, you are not critically analysing your habits.
